A cheeky little break with the tots.

We always have lots going on around here and our extended family. There’s always noise, always comings and goings, very often a drama, it really never stops. About a year ago we booked to go to Butlin’s in September of this year always hoping that we would be able to travel.

Butlin’s was always a much loved holiday of mine as a child. We always used to travel with extended family, us, my grandmother, my uncle and his third wife which meant that they both had their own children that came, so cousins and step cousins if that is correct, friends of cousins etc. We always had a fabulous time. Our favourite camp was always Minehead in Somerset and we were always sad to leave, although we did over the years visit some of the other camps. We did visit Minehead 2 years ago, without children and loved it.

This year we had made the booking for Skegness in order to take our 3 young grandchildren. Well the said holiday has just happened and oh boy did they have some fun. The sky was just so blue and the air was so warm, not a jumper or coat needed and not a drop of rain all week. They are all young, but they all laughed their way through the week, had so much fun and it did give mum and dad a bit of a rest.

There were some nice little gardens around

We loved the huge flower pots above.

There is one original chalet at Skegness which is now a listed building.

I do believe that some of the cheaper accommodation is a bit hit and miss but we opted for a silver room with a dining plan. Some of the accommodation is looking a bit tired, (as are some areas of the camp – the skyline pavilion is looking very sad inside) but our chalet was fine, it was clean, fresh linen etc and very comfortable beds. All the staff that we encountered could not have done any more for you. They were all very pleasant and all worked very hard. The fairground operators were cleaning the tots fair regularly, in the dining room the staff were clearing and cleaning immediately a table was left, sanitiser was dotted about the camp at more points than you could imagine. I really don’t think they could have done anything more regarding cleaning and safety in the current situation.

I am now in the process of making an album for the children with some of our favourite photographs in, They will enjoy looking back happily at them. Success I think, along with 3 very happy children.

Billy Bear.

Hope you’ve had a lovely day.

Bye for now X
